Where do I go to make this change?
From your Dashboard, locate the assistant that you wish to edit (most people only have one, but we support multiple assistants) and click the Control Panel (this is the button with the three dots, sometimes called an ellipsis menu). From there click Update First Phrase.
What does this page do?
This page only does one thing. This is where you specify the first thing your assistant says when answering the phone. It is the only phrase that a caller cannot interrupt.
Clicking Edit will allow the account holder to change this text from the default, and it usually takes 2-3 minutes for the change to take effect.
Disclosures
The EU AI Act requires that when using AI to answer phone calls, you must clearly inform the user they are interacting with an AI system, not a human, unless it is obvious from the context.
This is a transparency requirement for limited-risk AI, which also mandates that any AI-generated or synthetic content, including cloned voices, must be clearly labelled as artificially generated.
Under GDPR, it is also recommended that you inform callers that their calls are recorded.
