How to forward calls to your new number

Written by Seán McCarthy

Before you forward a number to your AI assistant, there is one key consideration.

Depending on your existing phone provider, the 'Caller number' that will be saved may be the number you redirect from (i.e. your own number) rather than your caller's actual number.

This makes things like following up with calls and sending SMS messages a little bit less reliable, because your assistant relies on the caller providing that number voluntarily and accurately. You will also not be able to block callers.

Many of our customers forward calls from existing long-standing numbers with great success.

The workaround in case the number comes through as only your own number is to explicitly tell your agent to request a number from the caller and not rely on the number that they appear to be calling from.

The answer to the question about how to forward calls is specific to each provider, but here is how several Irish mobile providers work:

Codes for activating diverts

Phone switched off/out of coverage (not reachable) *62 Number#

Phone busy (busy/no connect) *67 Number#

Phone not answered (no reply) *61 Number#

At all times (unconditional) *21 Number #

Codes for deactivating diverts

All calls ##21#

Not answered ##61#

Mobile turned off ##62#

Mobile is busy ##67#
